Job summary

UW Health in Madison, WI seeks a Care Team Leader (CTL) / Charge Nurse for its Thoracic Surgery unit. The role leads a 7-bed inpatient team, coordinating care with an interprofessional staff to ensure high quality patient outcomes.

The CTL will mentor staff, manage daily operations, and collaborate across departments to resolve complex issues while supporting department goals and patient safety.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience in an inpatient unit
• 2 years of combined work experience and leadership experience may be considered in lieu of two years’ experience in an inpatient unit
• 3 years experience in an acute care inpatient unit
• Relevant RN experience with department-specific patient population

Responsibilities

• Motivate and lead nursing staff while working in collaboration with the interprofessional team.
• Mentor others to grow professionally and advance their knowledge and skills.
• Direct and lead nursing staff to ensure optimum patient care, efficient operations, quality service and sound financial management.
• Analyze and resolve problems that fall outside the domain of the nurse clinician and collaborate with other departments and care providers.
