Job summary

UofL Health in Louisville is seeking a Phlebotomist for third shift to perform blood collection and processing with accuracy and timely documentation. You will engage with patients, staff, and physicians, ensuring specimen integrity and adherence to safety policies.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, CPR is required, and phlebotomy certification is preferred. Experience and familiarity with Cerner EMR are beneficial.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required)
• Completion of certified phlebotomy program (preferred)
• Experience: phlebotomy externship or 1 year preferred
• CPR certification (required)
• Phlebotomy certification (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy procedures accurately and within turn-around times.
• Transports specimens to the laboratory in a timely manner.
• Answers phone calls and provides information in a courteous and professional manner
• Monitors specimen integrity.
• Processes specimens properly and in a timely manner.
• Ensures documentation for medical necessity.
• Adheres to safety standards and hospital policies.
• Contributes to efficient laboratory operations.
• Participates in continuing education.
• Performs AIDET and interacts professionally with staff and patients.
• Performs other duties as assigned
