Job summary

Brighton School in Mountlake Terrace, WA is seeking a dedicated Long-Term Substitute Teacher for Third Grade to provide continuity of instruction and classroom leadership. The ideal candidate brings a passion for elementary education, strong classroom management, and the ability to create a positive, structured learning environment.

The role runs roughly from March through June, with hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and starts earlier for onboarding.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field is preferred.
• Previous elementary classroom or long-term substitute teaching experience is preferred.
• Experience with third-grade curriculum is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging instruction aligned with the third-grade curriculum.
• Teach language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies while supporting student progress.
• Maintain routines and provide continuity during the long-term assignment.
• Prepare and implement lesson plans, activities, and assessments addressing student needs.
• Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Differentiate instruction to meet varied learning needs.
• Monitor progress, maintain records, and communicate with families.
• Collaborate with the current teacher and campus team for a smooth transition.
• Uphold Brighton School’s expectations, policies, and standards for safety and excellence.
• Participate in school events and meetings as needed.
