Job summary

Boyd Company offers a two-year associate degree training program in partnership with Illinois Central College to become a Caterpillar Dealer Service Technician. Selected candidates are sponsored for an A.S.

degree with paid internships, alternating between classes and dealership work across multiple sessions. During the program, students learn engine fundamentals, hydraulics, fuel systems, electrical systems, and more while gaining hands-on experience in our service facilities.

Qualifications

• Must be a high school graduate with 2.7 GPA or higher.
• Must be available for standardized pre-enrollment testing.
• Must pass company physical, drug screen, and background check.
• Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English.
• Ability to operate a PC (Windows, Excel, Word).
• Must maintain high integrity and accountability standards.

Responsibilities

• Performs various mechanical functions under supervision to repair or rebuild components.
• Operates construction machinery to move in and out of shop service bays and test performance.
• Reads and comprehends technical data and writes legibly.
• Learn to use test equipment and procedures to correctly and safely repair equipment.
• Keep work area clean and follow safety rules and procedures.
• Assist with proper charging of parts and labor to work orders.
• Create and maintain good communications with other departments and customers.
• Lifts parts and equipment components up to 70 pounds as needed.
