Job summary

Novolex in Kalamazoo, MI, seeks a tooling/maintenance technician to safely install tooling and prepare/test tooling for thermoformed products. You will read blueprints, operate thermoforming lines, and perform setup changes while contributing to quality and efficiency as part of a cross-functional team.

The role requires 3–5 years in extrusion/thermoforming, LVL 4 or higher, high school diploma, and strong mechanical aptitude. Shifts are Mon–Fri days; potential overtime.

Qualifications

• Three to Five years’ experience in extrusion/thermoforming.
• Must be a LVL 4 OP or higher and/or strong mechanical knowledge.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Speaking and presentation skills to conduct effective meetings.
• Pretest for mechanical aptitude, spatial relationships.
• Capable of working with minimum supervision and maintain high degree of technical proficiency.
• Setup and tooling experience
• Ability to read prints
• CAD and computer skills desired but not required.

Responsibilities

• Changeovers/setups from the initial tooling installation; set up process conditions/adjustments.
• Assemble, install and align tooling into equipment as needed.
• Prepare, maintain and modify tooling (molds, trim tools, lip roller tooling).
• Read blueprints and use precision instruments; operate machine shop equipment.
• Complete SAP work orders and requisitions to identify equipment deficiencies and ensure parts supply.
• Demonstrate teamwork with leadership to teach others technical details.
• Troubleshoot setup-related issues to maintain quality tooling and equipment life.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment.
