Amcor LLC is seeking an Assistant Group Leader for the Tool Room in Lawrence, KS. You will support leadership and daily operations to maintain molds and tooling, repair priorities, and safe, efficient work practices.

You will help train staff, enforce safety, and track maintenance records to minimize downtime and improve productivity. The role emphasizes preventive maintenance programs, communication within the department, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet production goals.

  • Direct or assist Tool Room personnel in daily maintenance.

  • Analyze downtime and efficiency reports to boost productivity.
  • Maintain records of mold maintenance and component procurement.
  • Support training and development of Tool Room staff and enforce safety.

Job DescriptionAbout the RoleAs the Assistant Group Leader, you are responsible for supporting the leadership, organization, and daily operations of the Tool Room to ensure molds and tooling are properly maintained, repaired, and available to meet production requirements. You assist in directing Tool Room personnel, coordinating maintenance priorities, and promoting a safe, efficient, and productive work environment. You work closely with team members to support preventive maintenance programs, minimize downtime, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with company policies and safety standards. Additionally, you play an important role in employee training and development, continuous improvement efforts, and effective communication within the department to achieve operational goals.ResponsibilitiesPre-shift exercise / stretching activity to be performed before you can enter production area unless written doctor’s release can be provided to Human Resources.Direct / Assist the Thermoform Tool Room personnel in day-to-day maintenance of the molds & tools.Assist with/set priorities for the repairs of the molds.Work with Tool Room groups to develop and follow preventive maintenance programs.Evaluate down time and efficiency reports to determine productivity levels and areas requiring special attention.Keep the Tool Room personnel informed on pertinent activities and information.Assist in development of new Tool Room policies as necessary to ensure safety and efficiency.Assist in the development and training of new employees and direct the employees in their work habits.Enforce all company policies, work rules, safety rules and good working practices.Keep proper records on maintenance performed on all molds.Requisition / procure, locate components/parts for mold repairs & maintenance.Training in this position requires a thorough understanding of the above responsibilities and this is an extension of THM Tooling Tech responsibilities.QualificationsPositive attitude towards hard work, authority, team work and responsibilitySincere, dependable and motivatedHigh school Diploma/GED Equivalent/Work Equivalent.Must have a good work & attendance record.Good math skills.Good problem solving & analytical skills.Must have good communication skills, written & verbal.Should know how to use basic measuring tools such as micrometers & gauges.Previous experience with lathes, mills, and grinders not essential, but would be a plus.Mechanical Ability.Fork truck experience a plus.Must provide your own tools.Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.Ability to work around grease, oils, inks, and solvents without adverse reaction.Must be able to stand, walk, bend or stoop through an entire 8 hour shift.Must have good manual dexterity.Our ExpectationsWe expect our people to be guided by The Amcor Way and demonstrate our Values every day to enable the business to win.
