Job summary

Fluidstack is seeking a highly skilled Thermofluids R&D engineer to lead thermodynamic cycle modeling and CHILLER/HEAT PUMP related design. You will own the cycle model of the machine, select fluids, and set the pressures, temperatures, and flows that the compressor, turbine and exchangers are designed against.

Responsibilities include designing large-area surface heat exchangers, piping and fluid systems, and running trades to optimize performance while respecting pressure budgets.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to build thermodynamic cycle models from fluid properties and defend assumptions.
  • Size real heat exchangers against published correlations and ensure geometries match the application.
  • Calibrate models against machine data and clearly report gaps.

Responsibilities

  • Define the machine specifications, including cycle model, working-fluid, pressures, temperatures and flows for components.
  • Design heat exchangers and fluid systems with large surface areas and ensure pressure drops stay within budget.
  • Run trades to optimize air-side temperature rise, face velocity, and subcooling; derive operating points from exchanger ratings.
  • Validate model predictions against test data and document discrepancies clearly.
