Job summary

Antares invites driven engineering students to join its summer internship program in Torrance, CA. Interns work on design, build, and test of fission microreactors intended for terrestrial, underwater, and space missions.

You’ll touch hardware, software, manufacturing, and operations while gaining hands-on experience and contributing to real projects with mentors. Two cohorts run over summer; on-site work is required.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in mechanical, aerospace, nuclear, chemical, or related engineering and entering junior/senior year.
• Prior internship or >1 year of project-team/lab/research experience.
• GPA of 3.5 or above.
• Strong interpersonal and technical communication skills and ability to lead a student project team.

Responsibilities

• Build CFD models of reactor components to evaluate fluid flow, heat transfer, and component performance.
• Build FEA models to evaluate thermal and structural behavior.
• Develop Python tools that support sizing and evaluation of new designs.
• Process, review, and interpret test data; compare results with predictions.
• Define model assumptions, boundary conditions, and inputs; assess convergence and fidelity.
• Document methods, results, limitations, and recommendations in technical deliverables.
• Complete starter projects, then own a long-duration project through final presentation.
• Collaborate with mentors and cross-functional engineering partners to identify risks and opportunities.
