Job summary

Rolls-Royce in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Thermofluids Engineer to join the Global Mechanical Systems Capability. The role uses fluids and thermo-mechanical sub-skills to define, analyze, validate and verify performance for integrated power systems, subsystems and components in support of AE engine programs within the Defense business.

The position supports capability acquisition, new product introduction and crucial in-service product support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM/Engineering with 1+ years’ experience in thermodynamics, gas dynamics, fluid mechanics and/or engine design.
  • Master’s degree in STEM/Engineering.
  • PhD in STEM/Engineering.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance, USA Citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Define requirements for thermo-fluid systems and thermo-mechanical analysis, ensuring accurate and complete flow-down and capture of higher-level requirements pertaining to each engineering problem.
  • Integrate thermo-fluid systems through interaction with all adjacent areas across the organization so that systems are optimized in ways that support other systems and components.
  • Perform technical analysis of thermo-fluid system functionality, and temperature and thermo-mechanical analysis at whole-engine, sub-system and component levels.
  • Perform verification and validation to ensure requirements are met and models are calibrated against data.
  • Manage technical approval of thermofluid systems and modelling through to certification and audits.
  • Support the product in-service with ongoing technical analysis and in-service modifications.
