Job summary

AtmosZero, Inc. is seeking a Thermal Systems Engineer, Product Development to advance Boiler 2.0, a modular industrial steam heat pump. You will define low-cost thermal architectures, assess configurations, and lead heat-exchanger decisions while maintaining performance and reliability.

Strong collaboration with suppliers and cross-functional teams is required. You will own external technical work, guide consultants, and translate findings into production-ready designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or chemical engineering or related discipline.
• Solid understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, refrigeration cycles, and steam systems.
• Experience designing, analyzing, testing, or troubleshooting industrial thermal-fluid hardware.
• Experience defining component operating conditions, specifications and qualification plans.
• Ability to direct external technical work and review assumptions, calculations, models, and deliverables.
• Fluency with engineering analysis tools (EES, MATLAB, Aspen/HYSYS or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Define lower-cost thermal systems and evaluate configurations, packaging concepts, and tradeoffs.
• Define conditions and requirements for heat exchangers, compressors, valves, pumps, piping, and supporting components.
• Develop validated lower-cost configurations while preserving performance, reliability, controllability, and range.
• Own heat-exchanger and component decisions, including sizing, qualification, and supplier engagement.
• Direct external technical work and coordinate consultants; review inputs and drive deliverables to closure.
• Translate consultant outputs into controlled requirements and test plans.
