Job summary

AtmosZero, Inc. is building a modular industrial steam heat pump platform and seeks a hands-on process engineer to advance Boiler 2.0.

You will own significant workstreams, test and optimize systems, and collaborate with controls engineers to ensure reliable operation. You will work with technicians and engineers in a startup environment, developing operating sequences, validation tests, and documentation to support commissioning and scale-up of 1 MW systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or related discipline.
• Strong command of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and process-control fundamentals.
• Experience testing and troubleshooting thermal-fluid or process systems in hardware.
• Experience with instrumentation, data acquisition, test planning, data analysis, P&IDs, operating procedures, and engineering-change definition.
• Ability to develop operating sequences, alarms, permissives, interlocks, and fault-protection requirements with controls engineers.
• Comfort working directly with technicians and engineers in a startup environment where systems and documentation evolve together.

Responsibilities

• Test, troubleshoot, and improve systems across Pilot, Prototype, and 1 MW development activities.
• Define test objectives, procedures, acceptance criteria, instrumentation, and data-acquisition requirements.
• Support test execution, analyze operating data, identify root causes, and implement changes.
• Prepare systems for commissioning and resolve controls issues during startup and operation.
• Define operating envelopes, alarms, interlocks, and validation tests with controls engineers.
• Maintain P&IDs, process requirements, test procedures, and engineering change records.
• Translate test learnings into repeatable designs and controlled changes.
