Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking an Advanced Reactor Thermal or Mechanical Analyst to join the Reactor Engineering team. This role analyzes thermal and mechanical behavior of reactor components under normal operating conditions, natural hazards, and accident scenarios for advanced reactor demonstration activities at INL.

The position requires ABET-accredited engineering training and experience with CFD/FEA tools like ANSYS, ABAQUS, STAR-CCM+, and MOOSE.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited program in nuclear engineering or related field with relevant experience.
• Experience performing thermal and/or mechanical analysis via CFD/FEA.
• Familiarity with industry codes (e.g., ASME BPVC) and safety basis development.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Responsibilities

• Analyze thermal and/or mechanical behavior of reactor components under normal and accident conditions.
• Verify compliance with industry codes and decompose design goals into requirements.
• Support confirmatory calculations and startup planning for safety analyses.
• Plan, schedule, and track reactor analyses and startup verification activities.
• Collaborate with design, nuclear safety, and external reactor designers and DOE offices.
