Job summary

Battelle Energy Alliance's Idaho National Laboratory is hiring an Advanced Reactor Thermal or Mechanical Analyst to work in our Reactor Engineering department. The team operates on a 9x80 schedule from the Materials and Fuels Complex, with every other Friday off.

You will analyze thermal and mechanical behavior of core components for advanced reactors, perform design analyses to ASME codes, and support startup planning, safety basis work, and technical decisions with rigorous, evidence-based

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering or related ABET-accredited program with 2 years relevant experience.
• Level 3 requires 5 years relevant experience or advanced degree with 2 years.
• Experience performing thermal and/or mechanical analysis by CFD or FEA.
• Experience with software such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, STAR-CCM+, MOOSE.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE 'Q' clearance; US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze the behavior of advanced reactor core components under various operating and accident conditions.
• Verify compliance with industry codes (ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel Code) and decompose goals into design requirements.
• Support confirmatory calculations and startup planning in thermal or mechanical analysis.
• Plan, schedule, and track reactor analyses and startup verification activities.
• Provide support for new reactor design and related safety analyses, interfacing with design and safety organizations.
• Participate in technical decisions based on sound engineering practices and lab policies.
