Job summary

Cynet HealthStaff is seeking a Respiratory Therapist specializing in critical care and trauma to support a 13-week assignment in a busy hospital.

The role requires NY-state license and certifications, with patient care spanning adult to pediatric populations and complex airway management. You will work day shifts, handle extubations, ABG interpretation, and participate in transporting stable patients as needed.

Must-Have: First-time travelers accepted. No locals accepted (must be over 50 miles).

Description:

Required skills include adult critical care and emergency department experience.

Proficiency in extubation, nasal airway placement, and suctioning is necessary.

Must have experience in oral airway placement and various suctioning techniques.

Knowledge of pulmonary hygiene and sputum specimen collection is required.

Experience in tracheostomy care and suctioning is essential.

Familiarity with medications such as Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, and Flovent is necessary.

Must be able to administer inhaled steroids and other respiratory medications.

Experience with various aerosol setups, high flow nasal cannula, BiPAP, and CPAP is required.

Ability to troubleshoot high pressure alarms and wean patients from mechanical ventilation is needed.

Interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs) is essential.

May be asked to perform EKGs after hours in support of cardiology.

Flexibility to provide care to COVID-19 populations is necessary.

Ability to work independently and adapt to a changing care environment required.

Will be responsible for newborn stabilization prior to transport and pediatric care.

Experience with preferred ventilators such as Servo I, LTV, and Hamilton T1 is desirable.

Fully functional respiratory therapy department supports various care areas.

Daily census ranges between 12 to 18 patients.

Willingness to float to different areas as needed is required.

Must be comfortable delivering routine medication through invasive and noninvasive ventilator management.

Compassionate patient care is a priority.
