Description:Under the direction and supervision of physical therapists, physical therapist assistants treat patients through exercise, massage, gait and balance training, and other therapeutic interventions.They record patients' progress and report the results of each treatment to the physical therapist.Therapy travelers are expected to proactively build and manage their caseloads using available patient referrals and treatment opportunities.Travelers must meet the facility’s productivity expectations.Guaranteed hours apply when the traveler remains onsite and available to work, but the facility cannot provide sufficient patient volume or treatment opportunities to fulfill those hours.If a treatment session is missed or shortened, the traveler is expected to make reasonable efforts to reschedule or complete the remaining treatment when clinically appropriate and consistent with the patient’s plan of care, tolerance, and availability.Any barriers to completing treatment should be communicated to the facility’s leadership.Staffing agencies must review these expectations with their clinicians.
