Description:Physical therapists (PTs) are healthcare professionals who diagnose and treat individuals of all ages.

PTs work with patients who have medical problems or health-related conditions that limit their ability to move and perform daily activities.

PTs examine each individual and develop treatment plans aimed at promoting movement, reducing pain, restoring function, and preventing disability.

Additionally, PTs work to prevent loss of mobility through fitness- and wellness-oriented programs.

Physical therapists provide care in various settings, including hospitals, private practices, outpatient clinics, home health agencies, schools, sports and fitness facilities, workplaces, and nursing homes.

State licensure is required in each state where a physical therapist practices.

PT duties include evaluating and conducting medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs.

PTs also provide educational information to patients regarding injury prevention, ergonomics, restorative therapy, and rehabilitation therapy.

Supervision of physical therapy assistants and aides in treatment is an important part of the role.
