Job Description

The Therapy Aide assists physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists with patient care and departmental procedures. Responsibilities vary by level:

Level I
  • Perform patient-related tasks and prepare treatment areas under supervision.
  • Utilize sterile techniques for wound care and dressing changes.
  • Transport patients safely within the hospital.
  • Assist with scheduling, patient transfers, and equipment maintenance.
  • Support inventory management and documentation tasks.
  • Communicate courteously with patients and staff.
Level II
  • Perform all Level I duties.
  • Assist with more complex therapy procedures and co-treatments.
  • Manage supply orders and ensure equipment functionality.
  • Supervise Level I aides and volunteers.

Qualifications

Level I:

  • High school diploma or GED; relevant experience preferred.
  • Completion of on-the-job training.

Level II:

  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, or related field, or at least three years of relevant experience.

Certifications:

  • BCLS certification within three months of employment.
