Responsibilities

  • Provides ongoing mental health services to clients.
  • Conducts phone therapy and face-to-face sessions.
  • Maintains accurate case records per agency policies.
  • Participate in development and planning activities of the Counseling Program.
  • Conduct clinical assessments and make recommendations for services, including crisis intervention when needed.
  • Meet monthly productivity targets and complete clinical documentation in a timely manner.

General Responsibilities

1. Therapist Intern provides ongoing mental health services to adult and child clients, families, couples and groups.

2. Other duties as assigned within the guidelines of this position.

Essential Functions
  1. Therapist Intern conducts phone therapy, video telehealth and face-to-face sessions with clients to complete IMCANS assessments in accordance with State of Illinois and policies and procedures of the Agency.
  2. Therapist Intern provides ongoing mental health services to adult and child clients, families, couples and groups.
  3. Maintain case records and reports according to the policies of the Agency.
  4. Participate in case consultations and reviews with the personnel of other programs of the Agency or with outside professionals.
  5. Participate in development and planning activities of the Counseling Program.
  6. Conduct clinical assessments (including occasional crisis intervention) and make appropriate recommendations for persons seeking mental health services.
  7. Ability to meet monthly productivity target and standards for timely completion of clinical documentation.
Requirements
  1. The Therapist Student Intern must be enrolled and in good standing in a graduate program of Counseling or Social Work leading to a Master’s degree (or comparable graduate program). The graduate program must be in a regionally accredited educational institution, which has U.S. Department of Education approval.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and constructively with persons from all racial, diverse cultures, family systems, and social backgrounds.
  3. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Teams.
  4. Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  5. Passage of complete background clearance, physical and Tuberculosis (TB) Test.
  6. Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet, has adopted and follows the Codes of Ethics established by Catholic Charities USA, the National Association of Social Workers and the American Psychological Association. As an employee of the Agency you are expected to support these codes to the extent doing so is consistent with and allowed by applicable law.
  7. A valid driver’s license, reliable means of transportation and proof of liability insurance is required.
