Job summary

Children's Advocate LLC is seeking a part-time intern/mentor to provide translating, mentoring, and therapy services in Frankfort, IL. This role requires engaging clients from pre-primer to adult ages, completing behavioral health assessments, and maintaining documentation. Candidates must be compassionate and possess effective communication skills.

Work includes collaboration with a team in a community health center and offers flexible scheduling based on client needs. Spanish-speaking candidates are especially welcomed to apply.

Qualifications

Responsibilities
  • The Intern/Mentor will provide translating, mentoring and/or therapy services to clients, based on their areas of needs, and must be able to continually interact with the client throughout their therapy sessions, oftentimes in an animated fashion- when age appropriate. Clients can be age pre-primer to adults.
  • Prompt scheduling and completion of an initial Behavioral Health Assessment for all behavioral/mental health clients.
  • Intern must have a patient demeanor with the ability to relate to, empathize with, and show compassion for a variety of behaviors.
  • Must commit to a contracted schedule, with at least a 1 year term job commitment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a dynamic team of professionals.
  • Must work with preschool to elementary aged clients continually through out their shift.
  • Must work in a monitored and recording sessions.
  • Must work without the usage of phones for personal use.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Google applications.
  • Serves clients whose social-emotional difficulties interfere with their capacity to function adequately in some areas of their lives.
  • Acts as a Mandated Reporter on all issues of child abuse and neglect.
  • Documentation of an Admission Note summarizing the clients’ identifying information, presenting problem, history of the presenting problem, provisional diagnosis, safety precautions, the medical necessity of treatment and treatment plan recommendations.
  • Timely revision/modification of the ITP as the client moves through the treatment process.
  • Provision to facilitate linkage to and ongoing coordination and support for needed services and supports in patients’ community environment.
  • Crisis intervention when indicated, including immediate coordination of indicated service given nature of crisis addressed.
  • Consistent engagement of clients including prompt follow up on attendance issues or barriers, on use of referrals made, etc.
  • Consistent collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team to support integrated care in regard to the treatment process.
  • Must be friendly, outgoing, an effective ongoing communicator with the clients; play therapist experience is a plus.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Masters or bachelors programing for social work, nursing, art therapy, music therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, counseling, psychology, public health, and other social service disciplines are welcomed to apply, from an accredited institution required.

  • All job duties as assigned are required.
  • Job Types: Part-time, Internship.
  • Stipend: $17.93 – $19.00.

  • Monday- Friday between the hours of 4pm - 8pm remote.

Community health center; In-person; remote sessions.
