Job summary

Beacon Behavioral Health in Opelousas, LA is seeking a Therapist - Intake Coordinator to manage the intake process for mental health services. The role coordinates referrals, assesses levels of care, and guides patients and families through admissions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for intake and referral inquiries, ensuring timely, accurate documentation and follow-up.
• Build and maintain relationships with referral sources, patients, families, and internal clinical teams.
• Review clinical information to assist in level-of-care determinations.
• Schedule face-to-face level-of-care assessments within 24 hours of initial contact.
• Communicate Beacon’s services clearly, including admission criteria, regulatory requirements, and insurance considerations.
• Facilitate referrals to community-based or alternative levels of care when admission is not clinically appropriate.
• Guide patients and caregivers through the admission process, including obtaining required consents and documentation.
• Obtain insurance pre-certifications and collaborate with billing teams regarding payer requirements.
• Track and maintain referral data, providing weekly reports to leadership.
• Collect and document patient and physician feedback, contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
• Participate in performance improvement activities as directed by leadership.
