Job summary

River Valley Behavioral Health in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a licensed mental health clinician for full-time work providing comprehensive psychiatric assessments, individual/group/family therapy, and crisis intervention.

The role supports clients in accessing benefits, housing, transportation, and other resources while coordinating with a multidisciplinary team and documenting services in a timely, compliant manner. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human service-related field; 1 year experience preferred.
  • Master’s degree in a human service-related field.
  • Licensed clinician or working toward licensure (LCSW, LMSW, LPCC, etc).
  • At least one year of experience with the target population preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of psychiatric history, mental status, and diagnosis.
  • Provide individual, group, and family psychotherapy to participants.
  • Assist individuals in accessing benefits, housing, transportation, and other resources.
  • Recognize suicide risk and provide appropriate responses; crisis intervention on-call as scheduled.
  • Engage families in crisis situations and support recovery within a team.
  • Document services within required time frames and coordinate with providers.

Essential Functions
Clinical Service Provision
  • Conducting comprehensive assessment of psychiatric history, mental status, and diagnosis; physical health and dental health, use of drugs or alcohol; education and employment; social development and functioning; activities of daily living and family structure and relationships.
  • Providing direct clinical services including individual supportive therapy and psychotherapy to Participants on an individual, group, and family.
  • Assisting individuals in accessing resources and education related to basic needs such as benefits, food/nutritional support, financial support/education, transportation, and stable housing.
  • Demonstrating the ability to recognize and assess suicide potential and risk and provide appropriate responses to the situation.
  • Supporting individuals served and their families in crisis situations.
  • Provides on-call crisis intervention as scheduled.
  • Plans, structures, and prompts social and leisure-time activities on evenings, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
Service Team Approach
  • Demonstrating the ability to recognize and identify symptoms of mental illness and substance use.
  • Participating as a member of a multi-disciplinary team approach to treatment and recovery.
  • Coordinating with both internal and external providers regarding service provision.
Outreach, Engagement, Follow-Up
  • Providing comprehensive outreach and follow up to all assigned individuals including contact attempts over the phone, in-person, in the home etc.
  • Demonstrating the ability to engage and develop rapport with individuals presenting with a variety of symptoms/presentations.

  • Providing services that are person-centered.
  • Providing services that are culturally relevant.
  • Providing a non-judgmental, open, and welcoming approach to diverse populations.
Documentation
  • Documenting all services provided within expected time frames.
  • Documenting all services provided in a manner that meets service definitions, regulatory standards, and agency expectations.
  • Documenting all services provided in a manner that is person-centered and meets quality improvement goals.

  • Demonstrating excellent organizational skills.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a human service-related field and a minimum of 1 year working with the target population preferred.
  • Master’s degree in a human service-related field.
Licensure
  • Licensed clinician or working toward clinical licensure (LCSW, LMSW, LPCC, etc).
Experience
  • Dependent on education (see above). At least one year of experience working with the target population preferred.
Other
  • Valid drivers’ license and meets the driving privileges guidelines established in HR Policy 12.6 “Vehicle Safety and Client Transportation.”
Knowledge and Skills
  • Ability to manage time to meet all deadlines.
  • Ability to recognize and identify symptoms of mental illness and suicide and risk potential and respond appropriately.
  • Good verbal and written skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred but not required.
