Job summary

The Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Inc. seeks a compassionate Therapist to provide trauma‑informed, evidence‑based services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

You will conduct intakes, assess using DSM criteria, and develop individualized treatment plans to promote safety, stability, and growth. The role delivers individual, family, and group therapy, offers crisis intervention, skill‑building, and psychoeducation.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree required in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
  • Active Texas license (LMFT, LPC, or LCSW) in good standing; provisionally licensed with supervision considered.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with at‑risk or trauma‑impacted populations, preferably survivors of domestic/sexual violence.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive intakes and clinical assessments; formulate diagnoses using DSM criteria.
  • Develop and maintain individualized treatment plans for each client.
  • Provide ongoing therapeutic support, psychoeducation, and skill‑building for healing.
  • Provide crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, and de‑escalation.
  • Respond to crisis hotline calls; participate in rotating 24‑hour on‑call for in‑person advocacy.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and emergency personnel when appropriate.
  • Offer court‑related support and follow‑up for clients in legal proceedings.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team for coordinated care.

Description

The Bridge is seeking a compassionate and skilled Therapist to provide trauma‑informed, evidence‑based services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. This role delivers individual, family, and group therapy, supporting clients in achieving safety, stability, and progress toward their personal goals. The Therapist conducts comprehensive intakes and clinical assessments, formulates diagnoses using DSM criteria, and develops individualized treatment plans tailored to each client’s needs. This position provides ongoing therapeutic support, psychoeducation, and skill‑building to help clients process trauma, strengthen coping strategies, and promote long‑term healing. The role requires a commitment to professional growth and staying current with best practices in trauma‑informed care, while actively supporting the mission and community impact of The Bridge.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive intakes, clinical assessments, and formulate diagnoses using DSM criteria.

  • Provide ongoing therapeutic support, psychoeducation, and skill‑building to promote healing.
  • Provide crisis intervention services including risk assessment, safety planning, and de‑escalation.
  • Respond to crisis hotline calls and participate in a rotating 24‑hour on‑call schedule for in‑person advocacy at local hospitals.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and other emergency personnel when appropriate.
  • Offer court‑related support by preparing clients for legal proceedings and providing follow‑up support.
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and participate in case consultations for coordinated care.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related human services field.
  • Must hold an active Texas clinical license (LMFT, LPC, or LCSW) in good standing; provisionally licensed candidates may be considered with approved clinical supervision in accordance with licensing board requirements.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with at‑risk or trauma‑impacted populations, preferably survivors of domestic or sexual violence.
  • Knowledge of community, legal, and mental health resources supporting survivors of domestic/sexual violence and homelessness.
  • Ability to conduct crisis intervention, implement safety planning, and respond independently in high‑stress situations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate support or psychoeducational groups.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries in accordance with ethical standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays with occasional evenings and weekends as program needs require.
Other Requirements
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Must provide and maintain a current TX Driver’s License.
  • Must provide and maintain a clean driving record and update it annually.
  • Must provide and maintain current auto liability insurance.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to lift/carry 40 lbs and ascend/descend stairs in an emergency shelter setting.
