Job summary

Aspiranet’s Hope Forward Campus in Turlock, CA is seeking a Therapeutic Youth Counselor I to join a brand-new STRTP program. You’ll provide direct care for up to four youth, support daily routines, and implement trauma-informed interventions in a healing-focused campus.

You’ll collaborate with behavioral health and social work teams, learn ARC and MI methods, and participate in ongoing training. Evening shifts, weekends, and holidays are required in a supportive, mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in any field (Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or a related field preferred).
• Valid Child Development Teaching Permit or related credentials.
• 12 semester units in ECE, psychology, adolescent development, criminal justice, or foster/kinship care education.
• Valid alcohol and/or drug counselor certificate.
• Previous employment as staff or volunteer in a group home or STRTP for at least 1 year.
• Relevant life experience in child welfare, mental health, juvenile justice, or trauma care.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate in a brand-new facility purpose-built for healing and innovation.
• Participate as an active member of a therapeutic community of care focused on trauma-responsive treatment.
• Implement structured daily routines that honor youth rituals, spirituality, and culture.
• Stage and lead engaging therapeutic activities, including transportation as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, welcoming environment and ensure supplies are available.
• Support the compliant distribution of self-administered medications.
• Complete documentation and notes per program and funder standards.
• Learn Aspiranet’s core practice models and apply them in daily work.
• Assist youth in amplifying their voice and choice throughout treatment.
• Report incidents, progress, and barriers to supervision.
• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation per standards.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and supervision for growth.
• Ensure compliance with licensing and regulatory requirements.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in any field

Valid Child Development Teaching Permit

Completed 12 semester units in early childhood education, psychology, adolescent development, criminal justice, or foster/kinship care education

Valid certificate as an alcohol and/or drug counselor

Previous employment as staff or volunteer at a group home or STRTP for at least 1 year

Relevant life experience in child welfare, mental health, juvenile justice, or trauma care
