Therapeutic Recreation Therapist IV

This is a Monday - Friday position with evenings 1 time per month for support groups and occasional community outings.

General Summary

Delivers advanced recreational therapy services through evaluation of patient needs, goal setting, and development of treatment plans based on principles of recreational therapy. Collaborates with leadership to identify gaps and opportunities for professional development and performance improvement. Assists with interviewing, orienting, training, and supervising team members.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

The following statements describe the general nature and level of work performed. They are not exhaustive.

1. Performs advanced recreational therapy services following standards, certification scope, ethics, and organizational policies.
2. Conducts patient assessments and develops individualized treatment plans to meet physical, cognitive, psychological, and leisure needs. Re-evaluates and adjusts plans as needed.
3. Documents evaluations, care, and re-evaluations in medical records per standards.
4. Communicates evaluation results and treatment plans to patients, families, and team members; refers for further evaluation if necessary.
5. Provides therapy education and counseling to individuals.
6. Participates in and ensures effective student training and supervision.
7. Ensures safe, patient-centered care and excellent customer service.
8. Collaborates on program development, professional growth, and performance improvement initiatives.
9. Supports organizational strategies and goals.
10. Assists in equipment and supply management and procurement decisions.
11. Promotes professional development, mentorship, and training for team members.
12. Assists with team member interviewing, onboarding, training, supervision, and performance evaluations.
13. Supports a positive, goal-oriented work environment with clear procedures and productivity standards.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.
