Qualifications

• Plan, direct, or coordinate therapeutic recreation programs.
• Assess client condition and recommend appropriate recreational activity.
• Experience coordinating activities such as sports, arts, gardening and music.

Responsibilities

• Conduct therapy sessions to improve clients' mental and physical well-being.
• Confers with the treatment team to plan and evaluate therapy programs.
• Develops treatment plans based on assessments and client interests.
• Encourage participation in life skills and leisure activities.
• Instructs clients in activities to meet physical or psychological needs.
• Observe and record client progress and modify programs as needed.
• Gather information from records and family to assess needs.
• Plan and participate in rehab activities to aid community integration.
• Prepare reports reflecting client progress or regression.
