Job description

Overview

Join Emory Healthcare (EHC) and make a significant impact across Georgia. This part‑time PRN position offers a rate of $31.00 per hour plus shift differential.

Responsibilities

Administers comprehensive clinical services to patients; provides testing, analyses, and evaluations of seriously ill patients or those with complex medical problems and formulates a treatment plan consistent with the patient’s needs. Assists in supervising staff and students and develops in‑service training programs for continuing staff development. Maintains inventory of supplies, ensures proper use and maintenance of equipment, and keeps the work area free of debris and clutter. Communicates regularly with members of the patient‑care team, patients, family members, and others involved in the patient’s care. Responds to requests for professional information or advice and refers complex matters to appropriate staff. Assesses the patient and identifies problems, instructs and trains the patient and family regarding pertinent aspects of the patient’s care, and plans treatment schedules to ensure optimal use of staff and equipment. Plans, develops, and implements a result‑oriented treatment plan with clear, measurable goals, modifying it according to the patient’s responses. Provides direct patient care and performs specialized treatments. Collaborates with the patient‑care team, utilizes community resources for continued care, and supports follow‑up after discharge. Recommends and procures appropriate equipment, works with management to develop professional growth plans, attends educational in‑services, and participates in professional activities and organizations. Follows established protocols for documentation, records daily charges, practices sterile technique and infection control, attends team conferences, conducts in‑service programs, trains staff, serves as a clinical instructor to students, and performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation
  • National Certification from the National Council on Therapeutic Recreation Certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association
Physical Requirements

Medium: 20–50 lbs; 0–33% of the workday occasionally; 11–25 lbs, 34–66% of the workday frequently; 01–10 lbs, 67–100% of the workday constantly; lifting up to 50 lbs max; carrying objects up to 25 lbs; occasional to frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting; close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing). Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and tasks.

Environmental Factors

Exposure to blood‑borne pathogens, bio‑hazardous waste, chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, communicable diseases, electrical shock, floor surfaces, hot/cold temperatures, indoor/outdoor conditions, latex, lighting, patient care/handling injuries, radiation, shift work, travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, may vary with work area and tasks.
