Job summary

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Biloxi is hiring a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) to support inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care through assessment, individual and group therapy, and collaborative treatment planning.

You will document services in the medical record, participate on the treatment team, and ensure care adheres to Joint Commission, federal and state regulations while engaging patients and families in care decisions.

Qualifications

• Direct therapeutic recreation therapy services per Joint Commission and state regulations.
• Plan and conduct individual and group therapy as ordered.
• Complete required paperwork within 72 hours of admission.
• Documentation of services in the medical record.
• Engage with patients and families in a respectful, culturally sensitive manner.

The Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), provides assessment, individualized intervention planning, treatment planning and group therapy to further patient/family/group progress in treatment according to Joint Commission, Federal and State Regulations, the Oceans' Mission, policies and procedures and Performance Improvement standards.

Essential Functions:

1. Provides direct therapeutic recreation therapy services in accordance with accepted standards of therapeutic recreation practice in a timely fashion as outlined by Joint Commission, Federal and State Regulations, and the Hospital's Mission statement and CQI monitors.
2. Plans and conducts individual and group therapy as assigned by physician's order.
3. Completes all necessary paperwork/documents within 72 hours of admission. (Conducts, assesses and interprets completion of Comprehensive Integrated Assessment, reviews all multidisciplinary assessments and compiles a Multidisciplinary Treatment Integration under the supervision of the attending physician.
4. Performs chart audits of the recreational activities provided to patients.
5. Participates as an active member of the treatment team, attending meetings and reporting on assigned patients and progress toward treatment goals.
6. Documents in a timely manner in the medical record the services rendered.
7. Communicates in an age/disability/culturally sensitive related manner to patients and their families and identifies safety, psychosocial, special mobility and special equipment needs.
8. Conducts treatments and discharge planning in accordance with age/disability/cultural needs, and involving members of the patient's support system in decision making as appropriate.
9. Develops, plans and provides in-Services for inter/intra - community/staff on a minimum of a bi-annual basis.
10. Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
