Job summary

Acadia Healthcare in Tucson, AZ is seeking an Activity Coordinator to supervise and develop therapeutic recreation programs for patients. You will assess needs, design individualized activities, and lead sessions to support treatment goals and promote social skills and independence.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Therapeutic Recreation (Master’s preferred) and 2+ years in healthcare recreation, plus CPR certification. A $2,500 sign-on bonus is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy or related field required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Two or more years’ experience in recreation in a healthcare setting with knowledge of patient population served by the facility is required.
• CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility.

Responsibilities

• Complete activity assessment through patient observation and patient/family interview to inform the treat plan.
• Plan, organize, direct and implement activities within the treatment program to facilitate patient progress.
• Plan and implement an activities program including therapeutic leisure skills, education and awareness.
• Facilitate and lead activity sessions to improve patient mental and physical well-being.
• Instruct patients in activities and techniques such as sports, dance, music, art or relaxation to meet needs.
• Develop and implement activity interventions that meet patient needs and interests and help achieve treatment goals.
• Plan and implement activities to promote safe use of leisure time and social skill development.
• Direct and supervise activity staff in the implementation of the activity therapy program if applicable.
• Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude; address patient concerns and maintain safety.
• Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
