As a Therapeutic Recreation Assistant, you will carry out our Mission of Love by providing a comprehensive recreation program designed to eliminate boredom, helplessness, loneliness, and meet the individual interests of the residents who reside on the memory care neighborhoods in the Masonic Health Care Center. Assure that the approach and implementation of the service will meet the mission of the department, organization, and established standards or regulations.

Our Therapeutic Recreation Assistant Is Responsible For The Following

• Demonstrates knowledge of DHS or DOH state regulations.
• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the Recreation Service/Leisure Ability Model
• Demonstrates knowledge and displays the ability to develop, implement, and evaluate programming to support the resident's physical, social, cognitive, emotional and spiritual well-being.
• Provides a variety of services ranging from diversional activities, therapeutic programs, and individual visits, all tailored on meeting the residents' leisure needs, interests and preferences.
• Demonstrates and displays the ability to use both verbal and written communication skills to share their evaluation of a resident via assessment and participation records.
• Demonstrates and displays the ability to work with Recreation Therapist to create and maintain a monthly neighborhood recreation calendar.
• Assists the Recreation Therapist in managing and balancing the neighborhood Therapeutic Recreation budget for programming and supplies.
• Ensures that all actions, decisions, and services provided reflect a resident-centered approach, respecting each individual's unique needs and preferences. Communicates effectively with therapeutic recreation department and neighborhood teams to meet the leisure needs of each resident.
  
  

What You Have

• High School graduate or equivalent
• Previous experience with recreation programming in long term care or similar field preferred
• Previous experience with individuals with dementia preferred
• Strong written, oral, organization and basic computer skills
