Job description

Description

The Division of Medical Physics at Baylor Scott and White Health, Department of Radiation Oncology, is seeking a full-time therapeutic medical physicist in Radiation Therapy, with a minimum of an MS, DMP, or PhD (all considered for one position), to join our team and support clinical operations at the Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Temple, Texas. This position involves working alongside 3 PhD-level physicists and 5 MS-level physicists across 4 clinics in Central Texas: Temple, Killeen, Waco, and College Station.

This is a clinical position with a hybrid remote/on-site work model at the Temple and Killeen clinics, with the expectation to cover other clinics as needed. The clinics are equipped with 5 Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators, 2 Varian Varisource, 1 Elekta Flexitron, and 5 CT simulators.

The successful candidate will be responsible for physics support in the clinic and collaborating with the radiation oncology team to provide high-quality clinical service. Primary responsibilities include:

  1. Performing, evaluating, and managing quality assurance testing of treatment-related machines and systems (linear accelerators, brachytherapy, CT, treatment planning systems).
  2. Performing and supervising radiation treatments requiring a medical physicist’s presence.
  3. Supervising and evaluating computer-aided planning and calculations for radiation treatments.
  4. Conducting patient dosimetric measurements to evaluate treatment quality.
  5. Providing consultation to radiation oncologists, clinical staff, and patients as needed.
  6. Participating in the acceptance and commissioning of new treatment modalities.
  7. Ensuring department compliance with state and federal regulations.

Benefits include a comprehensive package with health, vision, dental insurance, 403(b) plans, FSA, HSA, life insurance, a competitive salary, hybrid work model, and opportunities for research, teaching, and professional growth. The candidate must demonstrate strong clinical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to operate independently with good clinical judgment.

The position reports directly to the Director of Medical Physics in Temple and joins a dynamic team of ten physicists, six dosimetrists, and four residents, supporting multiple sites across Texas.
