Job summary

Community Services for Children in Allentown is seeking a Therapeutic Family Coach to support infants, toddlers, and families through a specialized therapeutic home visitation model in partnership with Lehigh County Children & Youth Services.

You will work with primary caregivers to apply trauma‑informed, developmentally appropriate approaches, connect families to resources, coordinate services across agencies, and advocate for children’s healthy growth and family empowerment.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience with maternal/child and family systems, parenting, and child development.
  • Knowledge of substance use disorders, relapse, and recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Build strong relationships through monthly home visits and Family Partnership Agreements.
  • Provide referrals and coordinate community resources and services.
  • Promote parent involvement via classroom visits, Policy Council, and home-based learning.
  • Support families in accessing health insurance and securing regular medical/dental care per Head Start requirements.
  • Assist with enrollment by tracking attendance, openings, and new enrollments with center staff.
  • Advocate for families and empower parents as advocates and teachers for their children.
  • Conduct interviews and surveys; input and monitor family service information for reflection and planning.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and coordinate with Children & Youth, Early Intervention, and therapeutic staff.

Job description

Community Services for Children is looking for a Therapeutic Family Coach to join our team and make a difference. This role is part of our therapeutic infant/toddler program supporting children and families in partnership with Lehigh County Children & Youth Services. The Therapeutic Family Coach promotes healthy, successful child and family development through the provision of a specialized therapeutic home visitation model in collaboration with the Office of Children & Youth. The Therapeutic Family Coach partners with the primary caregiver to integrate a developmentally appropriate, therapeutic mental health and trauma-informed approach that is tailored to the special needs of maltreated, abused/neglected children.

Responsibilities
  • Build strong, respectful relationships through monthly home visits and the development of Family Partnership Agreements.

  • Support families in accessing health insurance and securing a consistent medical and dental home, and ensure children receive timely care and follow-ups in accordance with Head Start requirements.
  • Support full enrollment by tracking attendance, managing openings, and processing new enrollments in coordination with center staff.
  • Advocate with and for families, and help parents embrace their role as lifelong advocates and teachers for their children.
  • Conduct interviews and surveys, input and monitor all family service information, and approach data as a tool for reflection, improvement, and family-centered planning.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and serve as a liaison between Children and Youth, Early Intervention, therapeutic teachers, and families to coordinate services.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Family Services, Counseling, or related field.
  • Experience in maternal/child and family systems and knowledge of child development, parenting, and family systems.
  • Knowledge of substance use disorder, relapse, and recovery.
  • Knowledge of child development, parenting, and family systems.
  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs. for assisting children and moving equipment and materials.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with individuals of varying economic, educational, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Valid driver’s license, full-time use of car, occasional use of personal vehicle to transport children or families as needed and ability to transport families in agency-owned vehicle.
  • Ability to flex work hours to meet program needs.
