The position requires a VA teaching credential (special or general) and a passion for helping students progress academically while addressing behavioral needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• VA Teaching Credential in Special Education or General Education; credentialing help available if not current.
• Knowledge of instructional strategies and how to deliver curriculum and assess learning.
• Knowledge of methodologies for at-risk youth and high school aged students.
• Effective classroom management to address diverse learning styles.
• Ability to establish teaching rapport and achieve student progress.
• Ability to diagnose, prescribe, and evaluate progress.
• Ability to collaborate with staff and implement team curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement instructional programs for students outside the public school environment.
• Provide academic instruction to students with emotional/behavioral disabilities; manage behavior and assess achievement.
• Maintain a caseload of students requiring special education services and participate in IEP/ETP development and meetings.
• Contribute to Education Treatment Plan (ETP) or IEP and implement therapeutic teaching strategies.
• Participate in staff meetings and ensure consistent curriculum delivery across teams.
