Job summary

Lynchburg City Schools is seeking a Therapeutic Educational Assistant (TEA) for the Laurel Regional Program in Lynchburg, Virginia.

The 10-month classified position includes full benefits and supports teachers in working with students with special needs, including supervision, meal support, data recording, and activity adaptation.

Starting date is immediate; reports to the Laurel Regional Program Director.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 60 college credits or Associate degree or ParaPro verified.
• Some experience with children preferred.
• Ability to lift 40 lbs and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Supervises groups of students during independent activities.
• Assists with meals and supervision during mealtimes.
• Supports students with self-help skills and transitions.
• Maintains confidential student information and records.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
