Job summary

Dayspring of Miami Valley in Fairborn, OH is seeking a full-time dayshift cook for our skilled nursing facility. You will prepare meals for residents, following menus and therapeutic diets, and help with serving and light cleaning as needed.

You will work under the dietary supervisor or Executive Chef, following health regulations and quality standards. The position offers competitive wages and benefits including daily pay and tuition support.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest in working with patients and food service as related to total patient care.
• Ability to read, write and follow written and oral directions.
• Ability to cooperate with supervisors, co-workers, and other departments.
• Ability to follow recipes and menus, especially related to therapeutic diets.
• Ability to work under pressure at peak periods.
• Willingness and cooperation in following instructions as given.
• Basic knowledge of quantity food preparation and cooking beneficial.
• Ability to estimate relative quantities of food, per written recipes.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks the residents’ food
• Ensures the food is prepared correctly and at the appropriate quantity as ordered
• Maintains clean working environments ensuring guidelines for food handling are followed
• Assists with the Food Service Assistant position as needed by serving food, cleaning/setting tables, washing dishes/pots/pans
• Completes other assigned duties when not cooking/preparing food
• Follows health regulations by the public health department
