Job summary

Ontario Trillium Foundation in Doraville, GA is seeking a childcare/therapeutic specialist to support children and families affected by substance use within a structured program.

You will assist with groups, create materials, and maintain a safe, nurturing environment while caregivers engage in treatment activities. Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration with staff are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in ECE/Child Development plus 1 year childcare experience, or HS diploma with 18 months experience.
• Experience working with children and families affected by substance use preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with age-appropriate therapeutic, prevention, art, and recreational groups for children and youth.
• Prepare group materials and ensure required content is covered.
• Provide a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment while caregivers participate in treatment activities.
• Collaborate with staff to plan evening, weekend, and holiday activities for children and families.
• Complete accurate and timely progress notes, behavior notes, incident reports, and other required documentation.
• Provide parents with appropriate support and parenting strategies, referring to the Case Manager when needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and properly sanitized therapeutic environment.
• Monitor and request office, food, and after-school snack supplies as needed.
• Attend required training and maintain First Aid/CPR skills and emergency procedures.
• Communicate effectively with team members regarding children, youth, families, and program needs.
• Promptly report suspected abuse, neglect, safety concerns, or other serious incidents.
• Maintain a positive, caring, professional, and therapeutic approach with clients.
• Follow all organizational policies and procedures and perform other duties as assigned.
