Job summary

Theatre Row, a program of Building for the Arts NY, Inc. (BFA), is seeking a part-time Production and Facilities Assistant to support the Production and Building Operations teams.

The role is hourly and non-exempt, with 7–21 hours weekly and shifts that can extend to evenings and weekends. Responsibilities include opening/closing the building, equipment rentals, load-in/strike, and routine maintenance of the venue and associated properties.

Qualifications

• Must be able to carry up to 50lbs and navigate stairs quickly.
• Working knowledge of standard theatrical lighting and sound equipment including ETC products, QLab and analog sound mixers.
• Experience with handheld power tools and basic carpentry.
• Some experience as a lighting, sound, or scenic technician in non-profit, commercial, or educational theatre.

Responsibilities

• Open and close the building, including unlocking/locking active theatre spaces.
• Assist with rentals of Theatre Row’s lighting, sound and other equipment.
• Provide technical support for current productions including load-in and strike.
• Troubleshoot building and production issues during shifts.
• Assist in maintenance of properties under the BFA umbrella.
• Support light janitorial duties when needed, including snow removal and trash management.
