Holyoke Community College is seeking a part-time, year-round Theater Assistant to support the Leslie Philips Theater. The role combines technical theater duties with engagement with a diverse student and faculty population.

Work includes assisting in maintenance and operation of equipment across multiple theater spaces. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong communication, teamwork, and safety awareness, with the ability to lift 25 pounds and climb ladders as needed.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and collaboration with diverse campus groups.
  • Experience in set construction.
  • Experience in costume and prop coordination.
  • Experience in audio-visual setup and production.
  • Experience in rigging and operating lights.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Theater Technical Director in the maintenance and operation of all equipment in FPA Building performance and production spaces to include control booth, scene and costume shops, dressing rooms and acting lab.
  • Enforce facilities and operational policies for the theater.
  • Assist with events and productions from set construction to lighting and sound, including load-in and strike of scenery.
  • Support theater faculty with demonstrations of safe operation of equipment for students in THE 124, THE 125, THE 141, THE 142, THE 243 and THE 244.
