Job summary

Eden Prairie Schools seeks a Theater Systems Technologist to design, install, and maintain the district’s theater audio, lighting, and video systems at EPHS, CMS, and Valley View. The role also provides technical event support and collaborates with staff to keep systems reliable.

Start date is November 2, 2026. The position carries 8-hour days across 260 days/year with a pay rate of $28.51/hour, requiring post-secondary training in audio/theater tech and at least three years of relevant

Qualifications

• Post-secondary training or certification in audio engineering or theater technology; equivalent experience considered.
• Minimum of three years' experience in theater AV/sound/lighting design, maintenance or troubleshooting.
• Advanced knowledge of theater audio, lighting and video systems.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues and advise on user-friendly system design.
• Ability to evaluate vendor quotes and proposals for upgrades or replacements.
• Strong communication to translate technical issues for non-technical staff.
• Availability on an as-needed basis, including evenings and weekends.

The Eden Prairie School District is seeking a highly organized individual to provide specialized technical expertise for the design, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrade of theater audio, lighting, and video systems at EPHS and CMS and technical event support at Valley View, distinct from day-to-day facilitation of those systems by on-site staff.

Qualifications Desired

• Post-secondary training or certification in audio (Yamaha, Allen, Heath) engineering, theatrical technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience considered. Dante Level III certification a plus
• Minimum of three years' experience designing, maintaining, or troubleshooting professional or educational theater AV/sound/lighting systems.
• Advanced working knowledge of theater audio, lighting, and video systems
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, and to advise on system design so that day-to-day use remains simple for non-specialist staff
• Ability to evaluate vendor quotes and proposals (e.g., for system replacement or upgrades) and make recommendations
• Strong communication skills to translate technical issues for non-technical staff
• Availability on an as-needed or contracted basis, which may include evenings and weekends
