Job summary

Loyola Marymount University (LMU) - School of Film and Television seeks a Projection Technician to operate and support projection facilities across LMU theaters. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required and continuing education expected.
• Ability to work independently on multiple projection-related tasks.
• Minimum 3 years in film/video exhibition or related tech roles.
• Advanced knowledge of film projection and video exhibition.
• Experience loading/projection of 35mm and 16mm film preferred.
• Experience with setting up and maintaining projection gear and sound equipment.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Operate projection equipment for class screenings in three LMU theaters.
• Assist student workers with projection techniques during screenings and events.
• Perform quality checks on sound and visuals and troubleshoot issues.
• Advise on maintenance needs and coordinate vendor repairs.
• Collaborate with Facilities, IT, and SFTV staff for smooth operations.
• Coordinate rental/delivery/return of DCPs and film prints.
• Support programming with audio, lighting, and run-of-show prep.
• Operate equipment during special programs and events.
• Maintain the film library and online catalog; manage digital assets.
• Follow LMU policies and use approved systems for operations.
