Location: Grand Rapids, MI (Hybrid/Some Travel Required)
Type: Full-time
Reports To: Director of Operations & Outreach
Salary Range: $50,000-$60,000, depending on experience

Harmel Academy is a Catholic community of prayer, work, and study dedicated to apprenticing men to Jesus
Christ through living a life of prayer, training in high-demand, skilled trades, and forming the imagination
within the rich intellectual and artistic traditions of the Church. We prepare young men for lives of faithful
service in the skilled trades—and we’re looking for someone who wants to build that vision boldly through
recruitment and enrollment.

Role Summary
The Porter will lead Harmel’s recruitment efforts, build relationships with feeder schools and homeschool
networks, manage admissions systems, and represent the school to prospective students and families. The
position’s primary role is to build a pipeline of prospective students and steward them through the application
and admissions process. This person must be dynamic, organized, and mission-driven.

Chief Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engagement strategies to build and nurture relationships with prospective
    students and families
  • Build and maintain partnerships with high schools, Catholic institutions, and homeschool co-ops
  • Shepherd prospective students through application process
  • Schedule & coordinate campus tours and applicant interviews
  • Plan and lead outreach & recruiting events (evenings/weekends as needed)
  • Collaborate with leadership on enrollment goals and benchmarks
  • Maintain accurate records in admissions database and provide regular pipeline reporting
  • Collaborate across Outreach Team developing and maintaining social media schedule
  • Enthusiastic encourager or assertive driver personality
  • Relational, persuasive communicator with a pastoral heart
  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through

Qualifications – Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong alignment with and passionate about participating in the mission and culture of Harmel
  • Prior recruiting or admissions experience (college or high school preferred)
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to comfortably engage with prospective students and their families
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with CRM/database software or willingness to learn and captain
  • Ability to travel (up to 40%); exible schedule with some nights and weekends
  • Social media literacy is a plus
