Job summary

The New School's Parsons School for Design, through the Making Center, seeks a Student Assistant to support tool checkout, space monitoring and shop upkeep. You will work closely with students and faculty, learning new skills while helping to maintain safe, organized facilities.

Typical responsibilities include greeting visitors, assisting with reservations, and supporting staff with daily operations, inventory, and lab spaces during on-campus hours.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Able to work with students, faculty and staff in a busy shop environment.
• Willingness to learn new skills and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Assist students and faculty with checkout of tools/equipment.
• Monitor making spaces and assist managers and technicians with daily tasks.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in the Making Center facilities.
• Support inventory, reservations and equipment requests.
• Provide information on department services, policies, and procedures.
