Job summary

Goodwill of the Finger Lakes is seeking a Material Handler to support daily salvage textile operations and equipment upkeep. The role involves operating the baler, transferring materials, loading/unloading bales, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment in the donation processing area.

The position requires working nights, weekends, and holidays, with responsibilities including safety training, reporting, and cross-training on warehouse duties to enhance overall efficiency and mission

Qualifications

• Ability to operate baler to contain salvaged textiles and load/unload according to procedures.
• Ability to read and understand time cards and policy manuals; write routine reports.
• Ability to communicate clearly with coworkers and customers and follow safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Operate baler to contain salvaged textiles and transfer materials from storage to baler.
• Load and unload bales according to procedures; move bales to bale storage area.
• Assist in transporting merchandise using material handling equipment.
• Maintain bale storage area and ensure the donation processing area is organized and safe.
• Cross-train on other back-room operations and perform other duties as assigned.
