Summary

Apple is seeking an experienced Textile Development Engineer to join our Softgoods Engineering team. The role involves combining traditional engineering materials and textiles to enhance existing products and enable new technologies. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with textile manufacturing techniques, from machine setup and maintenance to process development and troubleshooting. This hands-on, interdisciplinary role requires curiosity and versatility to collaborate in creating innovative, functional products that delight customers.

Description

The Softgoods team specializes in both traditional and non-traditional engineering materials. Your responsibilities will include setting up, maintaining, and operating textile fabrication machines, such as:

1. Running and maintaining weaving machines with rapier
2. Preparing beams with a warper and tying warps on needle looms
3. Identifying and resolving machine setup and alignment issues during warp knitting
4. Preparing bobbins and operating horn gear braiding machines

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in textile industry, including adjusting, modifying, maintaining, programming, and operating textile production equipment
• B.Sc in a relevant engineering field
• Extensive hands-on experience with textile manufacturing
• Strong engineering skills to solve practical fabrication problems
• Flexible, collaborative mindset, willing to work in a fast-paced lab environment
• Excellent organizational and project management skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in process development in R&D or early-stage environments with ambiguous objectives and constraints
• Experience programming pattern data for style creation

Pay & Benefits

The base salary range is $143,100 to $264,200, depending on skills, experience, and location.
