Job summary

Qualified Inspection Services, a Texas-based residential structural engineering firm, seeks a Texas-licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) to lead technical review, code compliance, and sealing of residential structural design packages for production home builders across Texas.

The role emphasizes engineering oversight, quality assurance, and risk management over drafting production, with opportunities for mentorship and professional growth within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Texas P.E. licensure or clearly eligible to obtain licensure in Texas.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in residential or light-frame structural engineering.
• Strong knowledge of wind design (ASCE 7), IRC/IBC residential code compliance, and Texas regulations.
• Experience sealing residential structural documents in Texas.
• Excellent attention to detail and professional judgment.

Responsibilities

• Review and verify residential foundation, framing, and wind design calculations and drawings.
• Ensure compliance with IRC/IBC, ASCE 7, local amendments, and Texas Act requirements.
• Seal and sign structural plans and calculations.
• Maintain and improve internal engineering standards and QA checklists.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to staff.
