Job description

Established residential structural engineering firm serving Texas production home builders for more than 20 years is seeking a Texas-licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) to lead technical review, code compliance, and sealing of residential structural design packages.

Our firm provides high-volume foundation, framing, and wind engineering services for production housing throughout Texas. This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys technical oversight, quality assurance, and risk management rather than repetitive drafting production.

Position Responsibilities
  • Review and verify residential foundation, framing, and wind design calculations and drawings prepared by experienced in-house design staff.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable IRC/IBC requirements, ASCE 7 wind provisions, local jurisdiction amendments, and Texas Engineering Practice Act requirements.
  • Seal and sign structural plans, specifications, and supporting calculations in accordance with Texas P.E. regulations and professional standards.
  • Maintain and improve internal engineering standards, technical details, design procedures, and quality-control checklists.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering and design personnel to enhance accuracy, consistency, and constructability.
  • Assist with municipal review comments, field-related structural questions, and builder support as needed.
  • Help manage engineering risk and maintain high standards of professional responsibility and public safety.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in residential or light-frame structural engineering.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
  • Wind design and ASCE 7 requirements
  • IRC/IBC residential code compliance
  • Experience sealing residential structural documents in Texas.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and technical judgment.
What We Offer
  • Long-established and stable builder client base with consistent project volume.
  • Experienced internal production team and well-developed operational systems.
  • Opportunity to focus on engineering oversight, compliance, and technical leadership rather than drafting production.
  • Competitive compensation package and long-term growth opportunity.
  • Collaborative, professional work environment with an established reputation in the residential construction industry.
