Job summary

Sinclair Community College is seeking a part-time Testing Proctor for the Fire Science Technology Department at the Dayton campus. The role supports students, faculty, and staff by proctoring tests and handling admin tasks.

Minimum diploma required; one year of customer service experience; EMT/Firefighter certification disqualifies. Wage is $17.98/hour, up to 28 hours/week, with benefits including tuition waiver and OPERS pension.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of work experience in customer service
  • Knowledge of placement testing processes and college assessment protocols
  • Professional verbal, listening and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle telephone, in person, online and email contacts professionally
  • Knowledge of accounting and statistical procedures related to reports
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word to produce memos, fliers, and correspondence
  • Ability to enter and retrieve computer-based data; knowledge of Colleague software preferred
  • Applicants who have ever been certified as an EMT or Firefighter are not eligible

  • Ensure FERPA compliance; enter/retrieve student data and participate in training on data systems.
  • Maintain records for follow-up and statistics on service usage.

Position Summary

The Testing Proctor for the Fire Science Technology Department will provide support to students, faculty, and staff through the administration and proctoring of tests, including placement tests, academic course tests, and other tests that support Sinclair’s academic programs. The position is also responsible for routine administrative tasks that support the role such as data entry, communication with stakeholders, appointment scheduling, etc.
Applicants who have ever been certified as an Ohio Emergency Medical Technician ( EMT ), or Firefighter are not eligible to apply for this position.
This hourly pay rate for this position is currently $17.98 per hour with a maximum of 28 hours per week.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Provide strong customer service and/or student advocacy as demonstrated through a positive attitude of approachability, adaptability, strong problem solving and desire to identify and support student success

  • Communicate with faculty and staff to facilitate student testing. Handle telephone, in person, online and email contacts with students, faculty and staff with professionalism and a high level of customer service
  • Ensure adherence to database and FERPA standards. Enter and retrieve computer-based student information and participate in training sessions regarding database management systems and customer service
  • Maintain records for appropriate follow-up and statistics on usage of services
Requirements
