About the Role

Wirecutter is looking for an experienced, organized, and collaborative testing logistics coordinator to help run our Long Island City test spaces and support newsroom-wide testing. As part of the Testing Logistics team, you will make our rigorous product testing possible. You will also make our journalists' work more efficient, with a focus on keeping products, schedules, and test spaces moving smoothly across teams and projects.

You will work with the Manager, Test Space and Testing Logistics and the Deputy Director of Editorial Operations and Testing to prioritize and execute on all testing across the newsroom. This will include managing calendars, testing set-ups and breakdowns, and test-space usage for teams across Wirecutter. You will help maintain and improve our editorial systems and playbooks for testing. Additionally, you will be a key point of contact and consultation for journalists planning testing in our LIC facilities, remotely, and at offsite locations. You'll also help manage testing budgets and relationships and scheduling with contractors and suppliers. You'll help forecast future needs — spaces, processes, equipment, and budget — to achieve Wirecutter's testing and journalism goals.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and execute on testing projects in our Long Island City testing facility, remotely, and at offsite locations, such as labs
  • Work with journalists on day-to-day logistics for their testing, including schedules, supplies, test plans, set up, and break down
  • Manage test product purchasing, including tracking shipments, inventories, reconciling transactions and budgets, and ensuring policy compliance
  • Ensure adherence to all legal and safety requirements around testing are met and documented
  • Work frequently with video and photo teams on visual and creative projects that involve testing or test spaces
  • Collaborate with the editorial operations and creative teams to document and iterate on our testing processes, develop new team and newsroom workflows, optimize communication and visibility around all testing, and lead trainings
  • Plan and facilitate special testing projects and initiatives, including our paid tester program, public testing events, or outside media appearances related to testing
  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.

Basic Qualifications
  • 2 or more years of experience in a product testing, inventory, or project management-based role
  • Experience creating and maintaining internal systems, processes, and databases, especially inventory tracking
  • Experience juggling various priorities, assignments, and stakeholder relationships simultaneously
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Airtable, Slack, Miro, and other project and database management tools
  • Experience managing a production, studio, or similar workspace with projects or events to coordinate
Preferred Qualifications

Additional Compensation and Benefits

For roles in the U.S., dependent on your role, you may be eligible for variable pay, such as an annual bonus and restricted stock. The annual base pay range for this role is between:

$80,000 - $90,000 USD
