Job summary

Envision Technology Solutions is seeking a Testing Engineer in Raleigh, NC for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing focused on power electronics, converters, and embedded controller validation. Qualifications

• Hands-on HIL testing and validation of power converters.
• Experience with OPAL-RT preferred.
• Strong MATLAB/Simulink and Stateflow model development.
• Understanding of UPS systems and power-converter control algorithms.
• Real-time simulation and model-based design experience.
• Debugging hardware/software integration in real-time sims.
• Embedded controller validation and firmware testing.

Responsibilities

• Design breakout/interface boards for power-converter controllers with HIL platforms.
• Configure OPAL-RT HIL test setups.
• Develop real-time power-circuit HIL models using MATLAB/Simulink and Stateflow.
• Integrate power-converter control hardware with HIL environments.
• Signal conditioning, gain setting, pin mapping, wiring validation, and I/O configuration.
• Configure and validate communication interfaces.
• Analyze test results and prepare validation reports.
• Troubleshoot HIL issues with Control, Firmware, and System Engineering teams.
• Support controller algorithm verification and fault injection.

We have an excellent opportunity for a Testing Engineer with our client. Please note that this is NOT a Software Testing/QA position. The role focuses on Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing, power electronics, power converters, MATLAB/Simulink, and embedded controller validation.

Mandatory Technical Skills

• Hands-on experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing and validation of power converters
• OPAL-RT experience preferred
• Strong MATLAB/Simulink and Stateflow model development
• Strong understanding of:
• UPS systems
• Power converter control algorithms and state-machine implementation
• Controller-to-HIL interfacing, signal mapping, and I/O configuration
• Real-time simulation and model-based design
• Debugging hardware/software integration issues in real-time simulation environments
• Control systems and embedded controllers
• Firmware validation and embedded system testing

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop breakout/interface boards for integrating power converter controllers with HIL platforms
• Configure and establish OPAL-RT HIL test setups
• Develop and maintain real-time power-circuit HIL models using MATLAB/Simulink and Stateflow
• Integrate power converter control hardware with HIL environments
• Perform signal conditioning, gain setting, pin mapping, wiring validation, and analog/digital I/O configuration
• Configure and validate communication interfaces
• Analyze test results and prepare validation reports
• Troubleshoot HIL testing issues and collaborate with Control, Firmware, and System Engineering teams
• Support controller algorithm verification, fault injection, and system-level validation

Power Electronics + HIL Testing + OPAL-RT + MATLAB/Simulink + Stateflow + Embedded Controllers + Power Converter/UPS/Inverter Validation
