Job Description
Summary

The Tester (Test Operator) performs functional, electrical, mechanical, and environmental testing of assemblies, subassemblies, and finished products to verify compliance with engineering specifications, customer requirements, and quality standards. The position is responsible for operating test equipment, documenting test results, identifying nonconformances, and supporting production objectives while maintaining compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform production testing of electronic, electro-mechanical, and mechanical products in accordance with approved work instructions, procedures, and test specifications.
  • Set up, operate, and verify test equipment, fixtures, instrumentation, and associated hardware required to perform testing activities.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, travelers, work instructions, and test procedures.
  • Record test results accurately and completely within applicable systems and documentation.
  • Identify, document, and report product failures, defects, or nonconforming conditions.
  • Troubleshoot basic product and equipment issues and communicate findings to supervisors, engineering, quality, or other support personnel.
  • Monitor production test activities to ensure compliance with established quality requirements.
  • Verify calibration status of test equipment prior to use.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records to support customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, safety, and cost reduction.
  • Follow ESD, FOD, and contamination control requirements as applicable.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Assist with training activities and cross-functional support as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience

  • Experience operating test equipment in a production environment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Ability to operate a variety of test and measurement equipment.
  • Working knowledge of electronic and electro-mechanical testing principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Ability to identify and report discrepancies and nonconforming conditions.
  • Basic computer skills, including data entry and use of manufacturing systems.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
