The Test Technician supports the development and production of electronic systems by troubleshooting, testing, and repairing electrical and electronic components and assemblies. This role maintains and adjusts test units, diagnoses issues down to component level, and prepares clear technical documentation to support continuous improvement in a dynamic aerospace and defense environment.

The Test Technician supports the development and production of electronic systems by troubleshooting, testing, and repairing electrical and electronic components and assemblies. This role maintains and adjusts test units, diagnoses issues down to component level, and prepares clear technical documentation to support continuous improvement in a dynamic aerospace and defense environment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, modify, replace, and repair electrical and electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems using verbal or written instructions, diagrams, drawings, and specifications.
• Maintain test units and make necessary operating adjustments to ensure accurate and reliable performance.
• Determine material and replacement needs for repairs, select logical methods for correction, and take appropriate action to complete repairs efficiently.
• Follow all established Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) requirements to protect sensitive electronic components.
• Maintain accurate records related to electronic and electrical equipment, tests performed, and repairs completed.
• Perform rework on assemblies and systems as required based on test results and findings.
• Prepare clear technical reports summarizing test findings, root causes, and recommended solutions to technical problems.
• Apply a strong understanding of electronic theory to perform timely and effective repairs.
• Troubleshoot technical problems down to the component level using appropriate test equipment and documentation.
• Read and interpret schematics and related engineering documents to guide testing and repair activities.
• Collaborate with test engineering and other technical teams to support product quality and reliability.
• Follow highly complex directions and procedures to ensure compliance with engineering and quality standards.

Essential Skills

• Thorough understanding of electronics principles and design.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and related engineering documents.
• Experience as a Test Technician with electronics, with approximately 1–3 years of relatable experience.
• Ability to solder fine pitch and surface-mount (SMD) components with precision.
• Proficiency using oscilloscopes and other electronic test equipment.
• Working knowledge of RF theory and technology.
• Experience using hand-held and benchtop RF equipment such as signal generators, arbitrary waveform generators, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and signal analyzers.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve technical problems down to component level.
• Excellent problem-solving ability and analytical thinking.
• Ability to follow highly complex technical directions and procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Associates degree in Electronics or equivalent experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience working with digital and analog circuits and RF circuitry.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in electronic and electrical troubleshooting.
• Ability to prepare clear and concise technical reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
• Strong attention to detail when working with intricate electronic assemblies and documentation.
• Interest in career growth with potential to move into a Test Engineering role.
• Ability to work effectively in a structured test engineering environment supporting aerospace and defense products.

Work Environment

This position operates in a well-lit, air-conditioned test engineering environment focused on electronic and RF systems. The role follows a Monday through Friday schedule, with options for a first shift from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or a second shift from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Work is performed at test benches using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, arbitrary waveform generators, and other RF and electronic test equipment. The environment supports structured testing, documentation, and collaboration with engineering teams, offering a clear pathway for growth into test engineering roles within a rapidly expanding aerospace and defense product portfolio.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
